looking to submit a review?
how to submit
- all pitches must be sent to reviews@toothcutjournal.com, along with 1-2 short (~500 word) writing samples (does not need to be a review if you have never written one!), your name, a short (~50 word) bio, and where in the world you are located. title your email as follows: “Pitch-[Last Name]”
submission period
- toothcut accepts pitches on a rolling basis. This means you can send us your work at any time to be considered for online publication!
pitch
- we are accepting pitches to review art of any form: poetry collections, music, film, theatre, novels, etc. although we have a strong preference for things contemporary and local (in Atlantic Canada).
- pitch 2-5 works that you would like to review, just in case we already have a reviewer assigned to the work.
- give a sentence or two per work on what the work is and why you are interested in reviewing it.
review
- around 500-1,000 words.
- we are not looking for reviews that are strictly journalistic (we want reviews that are works of art in their own right).
- so feel free to push the boundaries and be experimental in your reviews (meaning we are open to hybrid forms of reviews, including but not limited to: comics, menus, annotated photography, itineraries, choose-your-own-adventures, and whatever else).
- that being said, your opinion of the piece should be clear, but please, no star-ratings or any equivalent quantitative metrics.
